I got this idea from a JD Planter Stand that Bill Briggs uses when demonstrating. Use an adjustable pipe clamp and draw one end of the pipe to a point. The pipe can be driven in the ground for outdoor demonstrations or a base could be put on the pipe for shop use. A guide could be could be put on the edge of the clamp to keep your work from slipping off.
