I am still looking for places to hold workshops in other parts of Missouri, Southeast Mo., Kansas City area, Northeast Mo. and the Springfield,Mo. area also the St Louis area. If anyone in those areas is interested please call or e-mail me so we can discuss it and start working out the details.
The shop owner that is holding the workshop should have at least 400 square feet of floor space under a roof or inside a building suitable for blacksmithing. The owner collects the registrations and supplies the tanks of propane gas( Bam pays for the gas) and . I make sure the trailer is there and either teach or help teach the workshops.
Now that my work load here at the farm is getting a little lighter. I would like for all the members that want workshops to e-mail me with the following information that I will data base and try to come up with workshops that you the members want.
Name and address: ( where is this located in Missouri. try to give me a idea where you live).
type of workshop (list all or as many as you would like to see taught)
What level blacksmith do you consider yourself ( so I don't plan a beginner workshop when you wanted a more advanced workshop)
As always any one can e-mail me or call for more information.
Thanks
Don Birdsall

The class is two days and costs $20.00 per day (2 days of training required) and because of insurance requirements
you must also be a BAM member, this costs $25.00 dollars a year and covers you for the 12 months from when you joined, there
is no waiting period for you to enjoy all of the benefits of being a member. Kids 14 and older will need a signed written
consent from their parents. The work shops will cover the basic techniques needed to get you started in blacksmithing.
The first class covers several of the techniques needed and the second class covers the rest. It is important that you
have the first class, before attempting to take the second.
These workshops are hands on, you will be doing a lot of forging in those two days.
We supply the basic tools and equipment.
Safety glasses are required, we have some but if you wear glasses you need to bring your own.
If you have a blacksmith hammer you like, please bring it, gloves ( work gloves, leather welders gloves or Kevlar
gloves) and optional leather apron.
We don’t provide any gloves or aprons.
Please wear cotton clothing, blue jeans, sweat shirt or tee shirt or work coveralls.
This is for safety reasons, work shoes would also be good, no open toe shoes.
Remember we will be working with very hot steel and LP gas forges. We want you to have a safe
and enjoyable experience while learning.
Students should bring a lunch and drinks each day.
Starting time is 8 am each day.
If you are not a member please send a check for $25.00 dollars to:
